Rocky Mountain National Park is the ultimate location for and adventurous couple to get their engagement photos. Especially at sunrise.
Our day started in the dark, when I picked Rachel + Dalton up in Boulder and made the trek into Estes Park, CO. We wanted to get into Rocky Mountain National Park and to the Dream Lake trailhead bright and early for a couple reasons:
- The morning golden hour is magical and makes for beautiful pictures
- Beat traffic and get good parking—the trailhead to Dream Lake can fill up fast and if it is full, people wanting to hike need to take a shuttle.
We got to the trailhead right around 6:30 and started our hike to Dream Lake. On the way up, the sun slowly rose, and we stopped a few times to get some incredible shots with the bright sun rising in the mountains. The hike to Dream Lake was about 1 mile up, and we were not disappointed. Dream Lake is truly dreamy and the perfect location of a Colorado engagement session.
Rachel and Dalton were up for anything and didn’t hesitate when I asked them to stand on some precarious rocks or logs to get the epic shots. I loved getting to know these two on a more personal level as we drove hours together, hiked together, and explored the mountains together. Capturing their personalities and documenting the precious time in their lives was a blessing.
