01 — Overview

The next evolution in asset monitoring

Monitoring 2.0 represents the next evolution of Messari's industry-leading Intel product. This enhancement transforms the existing Intel experience into a premium, agentic surveillance platform that surfaces only high-signal crypto events—early, contextualized, and only when it matters.

02 — Problem Space

Monitoring was broken at scale

The existing Intel experience consisted only of tables without surfacing the most critical information to users. There was no unified dashboard, no prioritization of action-required items, and no agentic capabilities to filter noise.

Noisy
Firehose

alert fatigue, missed signals

Manual
Coverage

limited assets, limited time

Binary Keyword Alerts

false positives / missed nuance

Unverified Rumors

either ignored (late) or acted on (wrong)

Slow
Distribution

the right person sees it too late

Key Insight

The core tension wasn't about showing more data — it was about showing the right data at the right time, with enough context to act. This meant the AI couldn't just filter; it needed to explain why something mattered.

03 — Solution — Onboarding

Multiple paths into monitoring: templates, simple setup or AI

Instead of forcing users through a complex configuration wizard, I designed two entry points: pre-built templates organized by category (Governance, Security, Regulatory, etc.) and an "Agentic Monitoring" path where AI assembles views based on the user's watchlist and intent.

Before - Legacy conditions builder

After - Start with a template or create a custom view (below)

04 —Solution — AI Features

Clarity and efficiency with AI

By leveraging Messari’s internal AI tooling, we expanded coverage from a limited set of assets to thousands—unlocking a much broader view of the market. With that scale, clarity became critical. We introduced explicit labeling to distinguish human-verified events from AI-detected ones, giving users the context they need to assess risk with confidence. For additional control, users can filter out unverified (“developing”) events entirely.

This foundation enables our flagship experience: AI-powered Agentic Views. Users describe what they want to monitor in natural language, and the system automatically configures a view that surfaces and categorizes relevant events in real time. Complementing this, AI-generated 7-Day Recaps synthesize patterns and trends across events, helping users quickly understand what matters without manual analysis.

05 — Solution — SIMPLE ONBOARDING

From empty state to activated monitoring

When users first land on the Monitoring dashboard, they’re met with a clear but critical moment: there is no data yet—only potential. The design challenge here was to convert that empty state into immediate user action without overwhelming them.

To address this, we introduced a persistent onboarding prompt: “Create Your First View.” This module anchors the experience and remains visible until a user successfully creates a view. Rather than dropping users into a complex filter system, we present structured entry points.

Progressive onboarding over blank states

Always give users a next step

Multiple entry points

Templates, custom, and AI support different user mindsets

Fast time-to-value

Users see results immediately after setup

Persistent guidance, not friction

The prompt stays until success, but never blocks exploration

06 — Solution — Event Intelligence

From raw event to actionable intelligence

The individual event page was designed as a living timeline — not just a snapshot. Each event shows a chronological feed of updates, AI-generated impact analysis with related charts, and linked documentation. The "Dig Deeper" action bridges monitoring into Messari's research tools.
