There are so many Colorado engagement photo locations to choose from. While this is amazing, it can also be super overwhelming for those adventurous couples looking for an epic photo spot. I’m here to make your decisions a little easier (because we all know there are a billion decisions to make in this season of life).
These are 5 of my favorite Colorado locations for engagement photos that you cant go wrong with. Each one is an adventure to get to + will be the perfect setting for a dreamy experience capturing your engagement.
1. Maroon Bells, Aspen Colorado

Maroon Bells, located in Aspen, Colorado are made up of two “fourteeners“, nestled next to each other. These mountains are considered the most photographed mountains in North America–probably because of their dreamy colors and year-round beauty.
Taking pictures here can be as much or as little of a physical adventure as you want to make it. There are pull-off along the windy road with incredible views–all the way to a 20-mile out and back hike to Conundrum Hot Springs, nestled in the mountains.
2. Dream Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park Colorado

The hike to Dream Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park is the perfect trip for an adventurous couple looking for epic engagement photos in the mountains. The trail is beautiful all year, but especially “dreamy” in the Fall when leaves are changing colors.
Dream lake is a short 2-mile out and back trail with an easy-to-access trailhead for early sunrise shoots. The trail on the hike up is filled with overlooks and incredible views. This is a location that you cannot go wrong with, and I had so much fun capturing Rachel + Dalton’s engagement here.
3. Paint Mines, Callhan Colorado

The Paint Mines Interpretive Park is one of Colorado’s most unique locations for engagement photos. They are named for their colorful clays that were collected by American Indians to make paint.
The Paint Mines is just 40 minutes outside of Colorado Springs and is the perfect place for couples looking for something totally different. To get “inside” the mines from the parking area is a short, flat hike. Once there, the shooting locations are endless. The Lawson Family met me there in the summer for some photos and I can’t wait to visit again.
4. Yankee Boy Basin, Ouray Colorado

This dreamy Colorado mountain engagement photo location is located in Ouray, Colorado–otherwise known as “The Switzerland of the US”. The drive to Yankee Boy Basin’s green-carpeted valley presents spectacular alpine scenery, abundant wildflowers, waterfalls, a high-walled canyon.
Though the drive is known for being precarious, it is one filled with endless spots for those dreamy engagement photos. After hitting the alpine valley, I love visiting Downtown Ouray for some classic mountain-town pictures.
5. Great Sand Dunes National Park

The Great Sand Dunes National Park is one of the most out-of-this-world photography locations in Colorado. These mounds of sand are the tallest in the US and make for an epic backdrop for photos.
The great thing about The Great Sand Dunes is that this place is year-round accessible and available. The weather is generally nice and the area is so vast that finding a great place for epic photos is easy. Basically, you can’t go wrong choosing this place for your engagement photos!
THATS A WRAP
